Kyma uses advanced crystal growth and crystal processing technologies to fabricate its growing portfolio of crystalline and polycrystalline nitride semiconductor materials.
Historically, Kyma's crystal growth technology was centered on both plasma vapor deposition of nano-columns (PVDNC) and hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). As Kyma's product portfolio has grown, new growth technologies have become important.
Many of Kyma's template products are epi-ready upon crystal growth and no additional processing is required. Kyma's bulk crystalline and polycrystalline products may go through a series of fabrication steps after crystal growth. These steps typically include one or more of the following: sawing, grinding, mechanical polishing and chemical mechanical polishing (CMP). Obtaining and maintaining a high degree of orientation control during substrate processing is of critical importance for some products and this requires close attention to many of the details of crystal mounting, characterization, and fabrication.
Advanced and routine characterization technologies are carried out on Kyma's products, in order to understand and document optical, electrical and structural properties of the materials both "inside" of the product and at its surface.
For each of Kyma's products the emphasis is on producing the best possible materials at the lowest possible manufacturing cost. Our practice is to pass as much cost savings on to our customers as possible. This way we help our customers continuously improve the quality and cost of their epiwafers and devices.
Intellectual Property
Kyma's intellectual property portfolio is rapidly growing and includes a number of process, equipment, article, and application patents. Kyma holds many of its patents and also licenses patents both exclusively and non-exclusively, both from others and to others.
